Morecambe Bay Prawner
This vessel has been standing at the yard for the last 12 years covered up and hidden from view. Now it has come in to our hands and is being uncovered. It is a early 1900s Nobbie and we will be starting some restoration very shortly, more to follow. Due to pressures of work and no time to even consider working on this hull she is available to the first person to take her away. there is just the hull, no rigging masts or spars but is to good to cut up new owner must take away space needed.
Nobbie "Three Brothers"
This view will be known to many who know the yard, what is under the covers will not. More to follow as we uncover what lies beneath the covers.
First View
This is the view from the footpath of the "Three Brothers" as she has been for the last 12 years.
Another view
With the covers off the hull and deck can now be seen for the first time in 12 years
Bow on
With those covers removed the shape of the hull comes into view
Stern view
In this photo you can see where in the past the counter stern was cut off and a transon stern put in. This will be returned to its original counter stern.
Port side view
with everything out of the way the lines of this boat are clear to see
Boat history
Its great when a boats history can be traced and that is what has happened with the "three Brothers" this picture shows the Three Brothers in question, from left the right they are Rueben 2nd son, Amos 3rd son and Gilbert the first son of skipper/owner David Willacy of Morcambe Lancashire. This information was passed to us by the son of Amos, Mr Keith Willacy has also furnished us with the history of the Three Brothers along with specifications for LR 5 as she was registered and we will be adding this here at a later date. The good news is that by mid February the "Three Brothers" should be heading into the workshop for the first time so we can start on rebuilding the hull. There is a large number of planks and frames that need replacing especially aft where the stern was cut short many years ago. We will be posting constant updates of the work here for those interested in how this project is progressing.
